The Brother ScanNCut Material Cutter : My Ultimate Christmas Wish
Christmas is just around the corner and I can't help but look around for a gift for little ole' me.. :D
"The ScanNCut by Brother is the first home and hobby cutting machine that has a built in scanner." It's there.. for all the world to see! a cutting machine with a built in scanner?! Imagine taking your kids original artwork and turning them into wall art? or a stuffed plushie? You don't need to hook it up to a computer to use it and there aren't any cartridges either.
Alright now, I need to tell you I don't own one yet but I have been on the web for so long looking for that perfect electronic cutter for me that does a whole wide range of materials and not just paper. My kids and I love to learn new crafts and make things either for school, for birthdays and holidays and for home decor. Given the resources, this is the machine I would buy.
Here is why I really really really really want one:
--- I'm not really that tech-y but I sure want to be able to customize any design I downloaded from my PC or from the internet to make it more personal so I love that ScanNCut can take any, as in any image, photo, and hand drawn or even stamped artwork, scan it and precisely cut it. You can choose whether to save your scanned images to the machine or to a separate USB. Knowing that you can scan virtually anything is sooo exciting for me.. imagine the possibilities! (Please mind copyright of artists..)
--- I love that it doesn't need a computer to work, it is stand alone and it looks really easy to use. (I own another electronic machine that I use with a third party software, although it works well and cuts well as it is, I don't have a really big space and I find it really quite troublesome to have to set it up and hook it up to my laptop every time I need to use it..)
--- There are 600 designs pre-installed right out of the box that you can use, tweak and customize for every project you need. It has shapes, sentiments and fonts and each may be cut on its own or welded with each other. You heard it right, you can weld each of the designs IN the machine with each other or with the designs you put in yourself, via the scan feature..
--- Need I say more about the 11.5 inch wide scanning and cutting area which will make big projects? The machine also has a scan background feature that allows you to place your cutting element anywhere around your cutting area. No more scraps! Out of the box comes 2 mats, one with the standard tack adhesive and another with low tack adhesive that are both 12x12" inches but there's also a 12 x 24 mat you can buy separately.
--- It doesn't just cut paper. I have seen how they cut cellophane and leather. Yes, leather! and that's one thick material! I have also seen them cut fabric (starched and ironed before cut) to make appliques and even toys?! Imagine taking your children's imagination into a whole new level fun!
--- The machine looks lightweight and so far from all the videos I've seen it has a very USER-FRIENDLY interface, I can even teach my kids to use them.
What else can you do with the ScanNCut machine? Virtually anything! I mean from home decor, to scrapbooking, to card making, to greeting cards, to birthdays and holidays, to gifts to toys!
Check it out by clicking on the photo above or watch it in action here, here and here. I am still saving so I can have one for myself but you can buy one here.
So there it is.. my ultimate crafty Christmas wish.. The Brother ScanNCut Material Cutter..
